emily + jordan {engaged}

I first met with Emily and Jordan in a crowded coffee shop last September to talk about their wedding.  There were lots of ideas and details flying around, but I could pull out a strong sense that these two were just plain fun together.  Months later we met to shoot engagement portraits against the spring backdrops, and I saw it again.  Effortless laughter, genuine smiles…just plain fun.  There are so many important elements that go into a marriage, but these two have one of the biggest elements in the bag – enjoying eachother.

If the engagement session was this much fun (err…minus being escorted out of our first location by a uniformed officer) then I can’t wait for the wedding!

I absolutely could not wait to get Whitney and Will in front of my camera again!  Remember their beautiful spring wedding here?  Life has been good to these two since last April and now here they are, a year later, expecting a sweet baby girl in mid-May.  I can’t wait to see what kind of beauty they bring into the world.

sarah + matt {wedding}

When trying to think of how to describe Sarah & Matt’s wedding, I kept coming back to one thing.  Certainty.  I have known Sarah since childhood, and when I met Matt for the first time, I was certain he was the one for her.  Everyone that saw them together said the same thing – there was no doubt they would be planning a future together soon.  Shortly after that, Matt decided that he was certainly not going to let her go, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.  A year later, these two pledged their love during a beautiful ceremony and reception at the Alumni Center on their Alma Mater’s campus, filled with family and friends.

Sarah’s bouquet had a sweet little adornment with pictures of her grandparents on both sides and one of her grandmother’s wedding bands enclosed.  So beautiful.

Sarah and Matt decided to see each other before the wedding for pictures, and I love that the mother of the groom and mother of the bride were the ones to lead him up to see Sarah on the balcony.  I can just imagine what it was like for them to lead their son/future son-in-law up those stairs to see his bride for the first time.  I tucked myself in a corner and watched the beauty unfold while they spent a few moments alone together.

I snuck a few pictures of the quiet moment these two were having just after the ceremony and am so glad I did.  Such raw emotion.

I had to share this one – the wedding was hitting facebook before the bride and groom were even announced at the reception!

Sarah and Matt – thank you for letting me document your day and take part in the moments that come in between with you and your families.  I will never forget the love and affection I saw on your special day.  Together you are better version of your already wonderful selves – of this I am certain.

Terry Jarrett - Rhea I would like to thank you for the awesome job you did on the pictures. They do make a beautiful couple. The first time I met Sarah I felt like she was the one for Matt, she is one sweet young lady and I am honored to have her as my daughter in-law.

rhea - Thank you Terry! It was wonderful meeting you and your family. You couldn’t ask for a better new member than Sarah!

the poole family {portraits}

I had the pleasure of meeting up with my precious friend Jess, her husband Daniel, and their little gal Piper for some portraits last weekend.  Jess and I lived together for a few years in college, and if you would have asked me how I would see her life unfolding in the following years, I couldn’t have come up with anything better than where she is right now.  This chick is patient, kind, light hearted, and has so much wisdom for someone our age.  Not to mention she has a taste in fashion that I wish still lived a floor below me!  She is an amazing Mommy to Piper and I can’t wait to see their family grow.

These three are such busy bees with Daniel right in the middle of his last year of medical school, but it is so apparent that they still carve out time to all be together and make Piper a priority.  And speaking of Piper…have you ever seen a cuter smile or more fashionable headwear?!

Piper just turned one, and one things for certain…this gal loves her Mommy.

I’m pretty certain Piper is fond of her Daddy as well…and vice versa.

Jess and Daniel thanks so much for letting me spend the morning with you and your little angel…now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go research your residency options in Louisville:)
